Poker games are growing in popularity, with TV poker tournaments, online poker pages, and traditional “poker night” games being played at homes around the world. Fading away is the old image of poker as a game played in smoky, dimly lit back rooms populated by the mob and criminals.

Especially in these times of age with the advanced Internet you can easily learn how to play poker online malaysia.

The roots of card and poker play are hard to pin down. There are dozens of different theories. Many claim the Chinese invented the playing cards as a variant on dominoes.. Gaming has been common throughout history in every culture, so it’s likely that various variants of the play-card deck were created at different times independently by different cultures.

Benny Binion, legendary Las Vegas casino owner, has agreed to hold a poker tournament for the world’s best players.

In 1970, he was holding the first ever World Poker Series. This $10,000 buy-in, no-limit Texas Hold’em game is being broadcast on ESPN now.

The Basics

Most of the poker games use a regular 52-card play-card deck. The poker game does not have a national or international regulating organisation; the rules are simply passed down through tradition and experience.

Understanding the standard poker rules gives you a solid base but, depending on where you play, there are hundreds of house rules that can be in place. Let’s say if you play a game in your friend’s house then he/she decides the rules whereas if you play in a casino, the casino’s rules apply to you.

Make sure you know the rules where you intend to play, and don’t worry about asking — before you buy-in.

For most poker games, before the start of the game, money is traded in for chips. The chips really are what the players put into the bag.

Later on they will trade their chips for money (cashing out).

Scoring

The different Poker hand pairs rate from five of a kind (the highest) to no pair or none (the lowest):

Five of a kind : It is the highest hand possible and can only occur in games where there is at least one wild card, such as a joker, two one-eyed jacks, or four deuces.

Straight Flush : A straight flush consists of five cards in sequence of the same suit, such as hearts 10, 9, 8, 7, 6. The A, K, Q, J and 10 of one suit are the highest-ranking straight flush and this combination has a special name: a royal flush or a royal straight flush.

Four of a kind : This is the next highest hand, ranked just beneath a straight flush. An example is 4 aces, or 4 3s.

Full House : This colorful hand consists of 3 cards of one rank and 2 cards of another rank, such as 3 8s and 2 4s, or 3 aces and 2 6s.

Flush : Five cards are a flush, all in the same suit, but not always in order.

Straight : Five consecutive cards but not all in the same suit.

Three of a kind : This mixture involves three cards of the same rank, and two other cards each of a different rank, such as three jacks, a seven, and a four.

Two pair : Includes a pair of one rank and another pair of another, plus any fifth card of a different rank,

One pair : Involves just one pair with the other three cards of different ranks.

No pair : There is “nothing” in this very common hand. None of the five cards pair up, nor are all five cards of the same suit or in rank consecutively.
